Groot Kievitsdal

Groot Kievitsdal is an event venue in Baarn that features multiple halls, covered outdoor areas, and an underground level equipped with modern facilities. The building combines classical architectural elements with contemporary functionality designed for gatherings of all kinds.

The building was created in 1923 as a tea house by Edmond Insinger, owner of the nearby Pijnenburg estate. After a fire in 1998, architect Van Manen from Noordwijk rebuilt it while keeping the original floor plan intact.

The name reflects the open countryside that surrounds the building, and it functions today as a gathering place where the original architecture coexists with contemporary uses. The layout reveals how a private retreat gradually transformed into a space for community and shared occasions.

The venue is located between Baarn and Hilversum and is accessible throughout the year for various occasions. Be aware that the building has multiple entrances and rooms spread across different levels, so exploring the full layout takes time.

Stone commemorative plaques inside the building mark significant moments: one from the founding year 1923 honoring Odo Insinger and another from 1999. These inscriptions connect the place's private past with its public role today.
