The municipal building combines a 15th-century structure with modern additions, featuring Gothic architectural elements and a tower completed in 1452.
Construction of the original town hall started in 1447, followed by major renovations in 1821 when the Gothic stone facade merged with other buildings.
The council chamber contains Gothic chandeliers, carved wooden cabinets from 1449, and portraits of the House of Orange from the 17th century.
The building functions as both an administrative center and a venue for civil ceremonies in its dedicated marriage hall.
The ceiling of the council chamber displays intricate beam work supported by sculptural pieces created by master Johan van Campen in 1447.
