Maassilo, Entertainment center in Tarwewijk, Rotterdam, Netherlands
Maassilo is an entertainment venue in Rotterdam, housed in a former grain storage building on the bank of the Maas river. The building has several floors with flexible rooms that can be configured differently depending on the type of event.
The building was constructed in 1911 as a grain storage facility and expanded over the following decades to serve the port industry. In 2004 it was converted into an event venue, giving it a new role in the city.
The Maassilo draws crowds for concerts, club nights, and art events that are part of Rotterdam's social life. The raw concrete walls and industrial structure of the building remain visible inside, giving every event a distinct character.
The venue sits directly on the riverbank and is easy to spot when approaching from the city center. It is worth arriving with time to spare, as access conditions can vary depending on the size of the event.
A producer working in a studio inside the building created the song that gave the Netherlands its first Eurovision win in decades. That recording happened in the same space where concerts and club nights take place today.
