San Franciscoloods, Harbor storage shed in Rotterdam, Netherlands
The San Franciscoloods stretches 360 meters along the northern edge of Katendrecht, featuring an open design at ground level for efficient cargo handling.
Built in 1923 for the Holland-Amerika Line, this warehouse held the record as the largest harbor storage facility worldwide during its construction period.
The structure includes an arcade along Deliplein that functioned as a passage for transportation vehicles while providing views of Rijnhaven through strategic openings.
The building sustained extensive damage in 1944 when German forces destroyed the Katendrecht quays, leading to its division into Fenixloods I and II.
The warehouse features original light green steel doors and frames, maintained through careful restoration efforts to preserve its industrial heritage.
