Construction began in 2007 and was completed in 2010 as part of Rotterdam's post-World War II urban reconstruction, representing the city's commitment to innovative high-rise development.
Designed by Portuguese architect Álvaro Siza Vieira, the building exemplifies modern architectural principles and contributes to Rotterdam's reputation as a center for contemporary design in the Netherlands.
The tower is served by four elevators connecting all floors and includes the LantarenVenster cinema complex, providing entertainment options within the residential building for inhabitants and visitors.
Known locally as 'Dame aan de kade' or 'Lady at the quayside', this structure was the tallest residential building in the Netherlands until 2022 when surpassed by De Zalmhaven.
