Krossobanen, Aerial tramway in Rjukan, Norway
The Krossobanen cable car system extends horizontally for 814 meters and climbs 498 meters in elevation between its lower and upper stations.
Built in 1928 by Bleichert company, this tramway was presented as a gift from Norsk Hydro to the residents of Rjukan for their transportation needs.
The two cable cars carry names from Norwegian nature, with one called Tyttebær (cranberry) and the other Blåbær (blueberry), reflecting local flora.
The lower station provides extensive parking facilities, while the upper station sits at 886 meters elevation, offering views across the Rjukan valley.
During winter months from October to March, this tramway allows residents to see the sun, which remains hidden behind mountains in the valley below.
