Speilsalen, Glacial formation at Trollheimen mountains, Norway
The glacier Speilsalen formed a natural tunnel extending 200 to 300 meters beneath the mountain Blåhøa in Oppdal municipality.
The glacial formation, known as the Hall of Mirrors due to its reflective surfaces, remained intact until its structural collapse in August 2007.
Speilsalen attracted numerous geologists and researchers who studied the formation to understand glacial processes in Norwegian mountains.
The location at coordinates 62°46'9"N, 9°21'10"E required proper mountaineering equipment and guidance from local experts for safe exploration.
The river flowing underneath the glacier created smooth walls of ice that reflected light throughout the 300-meter natural tunnel.
