Kirkelandet Church, Modern church in Kristiansund, Norway.
Kirkelandet Church is a modern concrete church building in Kristiansund that features 320 colored glass windows throughout its interior. These windows cast patterns of light across the 30-meter-high chancel wall, filling the space with shifting colors and illumination.
The present building was completed in 1964 and represents the fourth church structure on this site. Earlier versions were destroyed by lightning strikes and war-related damage.
The baptismal font displays green and blue elements that visitors notice as a visual expression of the connection between earthly and spiritual life. Such symbolic details are woven throughout the interior, shaping the impression as you walk through the space.
The building is open to visitors on weekdays during regular hours. Parking is available near the entrance, making arrival straightforward.
The architecture follows a geometric design concept where colored windows filter light in unexpected ways throughout the day. This approach blends mathematical precision with natural beauty in ways visitors often overlook on first glance.
