Kontraskjæret

Kontraskjæret is a public park on the forecourt of Akershus Fortress situated between Rådhusgata and Øvre Slottsgate. The space slopes toward the Pipervika waterfront and includes electrical connections and event infrastructure throughout the grounds.

The park sits adjacent to the medieval Akershus Fortress, which has protected Oslo since the late 13th century. Its position beside this ancient structure connects the space to the city's long past.

The space hosts summer concerts, public events, and communal gatherings that bring Oslo residents together throughout the warmer months. These activities shape how locals experience and use the green area as a social hub.

The park is centrally located with public transportation stops nearby and easy access from the city center. Visitors should note that during major events, site layout and accessibility may change depending on the setup.

Starting in 2025, the park will serve as the permanent venue for Oslo Pride celebrations through 2030. This designation marks a shift in the space's role and underscores its importance as a major gathering place for the city.
