Nittedal Teleport, Satellite ground station in Hakadal, Norway
Nittedal Teleport is a satellite ground station in Hakadal with more than 50 antennas serving broadcasting and communication operations. The facility includes several large antennas up to 18 meters in diameter that receive signals and transmit data to satellites in orbit.
The station was founded in 1986 and grew to become the largest earth station in Norway and the Nordic region. It developed into a central hub for satellite-based communication serving the broader Nordic area.
This facility connects Norwegian and Nordic communities through broadcasting and internet services that reach remote areas. It plays an essential role in keeping people in distant regions linked to news, entertainment, and digital life.
The station operates around the clock with engineers monitoring signal quality for multiple broadcasting networks. Keep in mind that this is an active operational facility and access may be limited for security reasons.
The facility transmits data to multiple satellites including Thor 5, Thor 6, and Thor 7, which broadcast signals across much of Europe. This connection to several active satellites ensures reliable transmission even if one satellite experiences issues.
