Tretten Bridge, Road bridge in Øyer, Norway
Tretten Bridge is a road crossing in Øyer, Norway, built from layers of glued timber beams and steel supports. The structure measures 148 meters (486 feet) in length and 10 meters (33 feet) wide over the river Gudbrandsdalslågen.
The crossing opened in June 2012 as part of road improvements along the E6 between Øyer and Tretten. It replaced an older river crossing dating from 1895.
The name comes from the nearby settlement of Tretten, located on the east bank of the river in the Gudbrandsdal valley. Locals use the crossing daily as a direct link between communities along the river.
The structure links fylkesvei 254 with the E6 highway and serves as a route for regional traffic through Innlandet. Drivers can use the crossing in all weather conditions.
In August 2022, the structure collapsed with two vehicles on it, triggering nationwide inspections. Authorities then closed fourteen similarly constructed crossings across Norway for safety checks.
