Mærrapanna, Nature reserve in Fredrikstad Municipality, Norway
Mærrapanna is a protected coastal area featuring smooth granite rock formations and mixed plant life along the Hankøsundet waters. The terrain includes designated swimming areas and walking paths that wind through the landscape.
The area received protection in 1996 and contains traces of old farms that once belonged to the Slevig Østre estate. These remnants continue to shape how the landscape appears today.
The reserve is a place where locals come to swim and spend time outdoors on weekends and warmer days. The way the area is maintained shows how much the community values access to natural coastal spaces.
Visitors reach the swimming area via a path from the parking area, with accessible spaces for people with disabilities near the entrance. The paths are easy to walk and provide some shade from surrounding plants.
The granite rocks here have an unusual orange tint that becomes especially visible in sunlight, giving the place a distinctive look. Dense rows of yew trees line the access paths and create a characteristic green corridor down to the water.
