Politiets nasjonale beredskapssenter, Police headquarters in Taraldrud, Norway
The National Police Emergency Response Center is a large training complex in Taraldrud that houses specialized emergency units and their operational facilities. The site includes indoor shooting ranges, a training swimming pool, and a helicopter operations base for rapid deployment across the region.
The center was established following recommendations from the July 22nd Commission, with Taraldrud selected after evaluating multiple locations. This centralized facility transformed how emergency response teams coordinate and deploy across Norway.
The facility brings together five specialized police units: Emergency Response Unit, Bomb Squad, Crisis Negotiation Team, Helicopter Service, and Tactical Support Section.
The site is restricted to authorized personnel and active training operations, so public access is limited. Visitors should plan ahead if interested in learning about the facility, as special arrangements or guided visits may be required through official channels.
Three AW169 helicopters stationed here can launch within minutes to transport personnel and conduct search and rescue operations across eastern regions. These aircraft represent a critical rapid-response capability that extends far beyond the facility itself.
