Race to the Sky is an annual mountain climbing motorsport event held in Cardrona Valley. The competition invites different vehicle categories including motorcycles, cars, quads, buggies, and off-road vehicles to test their speed and control on unpaved roads winding through alpine terrain.
The competition started in 1998 under the name Silverstone Race to the Sky and ran through 2007 before being discontinued. It was revived in 2015 when Highlands Motorsport Park took over the organization.
The competition features five distinct categories including bikes, quads, cars, buggies, and 4WD vehicles, representing different aspects of New Zealand motorsport.
