Masjid Al-Dahab

Masjid Al-Dahab is an Islamic mosque in the Quiapo district of Manila, defined by its prominent golden dome that crowns the main structure. The building blends Islamic architecture with local design elements and houses a spacious prayer hall designed to accommodate numerous worshippers.

Construction began in 1976 under the direction of First Lady Imelda Marcos as a diplomatic gesture. The original minaret was later removed due to structural concerns, prompting an international fundraising campaign for its restoration.

The mosque displays geometric patterns and decorative details drawn from Maranao, Maguindanao, and Tausug artistic traditions. These design elements reflect the diversity of Muslim communities across the Filipino islands.

The site is accessible near Carriedo Station on LRT Line 1, making it easy to reach by public transport. Visitors should remove their shoes, wear modest clothing that covers arms and legs, and respect the customs observed within the space.

The building was originally designed with a minaret that had to be removed due to safety concerns. The subsequent reconstruction effort relied on a worldwide fundraising campaign, reflecting strong support from the global Muslim community.
