Tagbilaran Airport, airport
Tagbilaran Airport was a commercial airfield in Tagbilaran city on Bohol island that is now decommissioned. The site contained a runway, a small terminal building, and airport facilities, but ceased operations as a passenger airport in 2018 when flights moved to a new facility on nearby Panglao Island.
The airport opened in the 1960s as Bohol's main air gateway with flights to Manila and Cebu. It operated for over 50 years but capacity constraints and aging infrastructure led to its closure in November 2018, when all operations moved to the newly opened Bohol-Panglao International Airport.
The old airport site remains accessible to visitors with visible runway remains and terminal structures still standing. The area is undergoing development into a business park, so access conditions may change as construction and redevelopment work progress.
After closure the old runway hosted unexpected uses including mobile markets, local festivals, and political rallies in its wide open space. This temporary repurposing demonstrates how an abandoned airport site can serve community needs as a temporary gathering place.
