Liliw is an administrative municipality in Laguna Province on the island of Luzon. The town lies at the foot of Mount Banahaw and is surrounded by hilly terrain with forests and farmland.
The town was founded in 1571 and was originally known as Lilio. The name was changed to Liliw in 1965 to standardize spelling and pronunciation.
The annual Tsinelas Festival celebrates the craft of sandal-making, where local artisans present their handmade footwear to visitors. You can watch these traditional shoes being made and browse local shops that specialize in this work.
You can reach Liliw by regular bus services from Manila, which takes about two hours. Once there, local tricycles provide transport around the town and to nearby attractions.
The Church of San Juan Bautista, built between 1643 and 1646, displays elevated saint statues and retains its original baroque style. Its location on a hillside makes it visible from far away and a notable landmark in the landscape.
