SM City Cebu, shopping mall in Cebu City, Philippines
SM City Cebu is a large shopping center in Cebu City with four main levels dedicated to retail and entertainment. It houses hundreds of stores featuring local and international brands, multiple dining options, a cinema, an amusement center, and wide walkways designed for comfortable navigation.
The mall opened in 1993 as the first SM shopping center built outside Manila. Its exterior was redesigned from blue and white stripes to beige in 2005, and between 2006 and 2007 the Northwing expansion doubled its size with additional shops and amenities.
SM City Cebu serves as a gathering place where friends meet for coffee, teenagers shop for fashion, and families spend time together, making it a social hub where different groups of the city come together.
The mall features multiple transportation terminals with jeepneys, buses, and vans serving different areas of the city, plus bus connections to Mactan Airport. Ample parking, helpful staff, and clear signage make navigation straightforward and visits hassle-free.
The mall was originally designed with blue and white stripes symbolizing the sea, beach, and sky, featuring underwater-themed decorations inside. This distinctive maritime aesthetic, no longer visible in its modern beige exterior, was a signature element when it first opened.
