Malacañang sa Sugbo, Presidential residence in Cebu City, Philippines.
Malacañang sa Sugbo is a two-story waterfront building that blends European and Filipino design styles throughout its rooms and hallways. Large windows flood the interior with light, while ornate wooden carvings and carved details appear on walls, doors, and railings.
The building opened in 1910 as a customs facility and was designed by an American architect working in the Philippines. It later became an official residence where high-ranking government officials stayed during visits to the region.
The building displays local crafts, photographs of regional traditions, and personal items that tell the story of life in Cebu. Visitors can see how people here lived and what customs mattered to them.
The museum operates from Tuesday through Sunday with guided tours available in English and local languages. The waterfront location makes parking convenient and the site is easily accessible by foot from nearby streets.
The building originally served as a customs checkpoint for ships before becoming a residence. Visitors can still see the large windows positioned to overlook the harbor where officials once monitored incoming vessels.
