Santa Cruz stretches over 3.09 square kilometers on the right bank of the Pasig River, bordered by Tondo, Binondo, Quiapo, and Sampaloc districts.
The Jesuits established the first Catholic church in the area during 1619, primarily serving Chinese residents before expanding into a central district of Manila.
The district contains three major burial grounds: Manila Chinese Cemetery, La Loma Cemetery, and Manila North Cemetery, reflecting the multicultural heritage of the city.
The area connects to other parts of Manila through Light Rail Transit lines 1 and 2, with Rizal Avenue serving as the main transportation artery.
The former San Lazaro Racecourse transformed into SM City San Lazaro, introducing over 300 retail establishments to this industrial section of Manila.
