Built in 1928 by Don Vicente Lopez and Elena Hofileña, the mansion served as a symbol of family prominence and wealth. It survived attempted destruction during World War II when Filipino guerrillas tried to burn it down.
The house reflects European and local architectural styles that shaped early 20th-century Filipino elite culture. Its layout and decoration reveal how the family's social standing was expressed through design and spatial arrangement.
