Port Area, Maritime district in Manila, Philippines
Located at the edge of Manila Bay, Port Area encompasses 80 hectares of terminals, shipping facilities, and warehouses serving maritime trade functions.
The district emerged from land reclamation projects in the 1890s, expanding the Port of Manila during the final years of Spanish colonial rule.
Five barangays form the district's administrative structure, including Baseco Compound on Engineer's Island, which houses numerous maritime workers and their families.
The Manila South Harbor operates through five piers and features the Eva Macapagal Super Terminal, offering passenger services and container handling facilities.
The district sits at an elevation of 4 meters above sea level, positioned between Intramuros and Manila Bay with the Pasig River as its northern boundary.
