Manufaktura, Shopping center in Bałuty-Centrum, Łódź, Poland
Manufaktura is a shopping center built on the grounds of a former textile factory in Łódź. The site features restored red brick buildings housing over 300 stores, restaurants, entertainment venues, and a hotel.
The grounds were originally founded in 1872 as a textile weaving factory by Izrael Poznański. After decades of industrial use, the site was extensively restored and reopened as a modern shopping center in 2006.
The site houses several museums, including an art museum branch, a factory museum, and the city's local history museum. These institutions occupy the historic brick buildings and tell stories of both artistic achievement and industrial heritage.
The central location in Łódź makes the site easy to reach with ample parking available for visitors. The variety of shops, restaurants, and entertainment options all in one place means you can spend several hours here comfortably.
The Market Square transforms seasonally with one of Europe's longest fountains as its centerpiece. In winter it becomes an ice rink while summer brings sand and a beach atmosphere to the same space.
