Antonin, Ostrów Wielkopolski County

Antonin is a village located in the Barycz Valley landscape region, south of Ostrów Wielkopolski in Greater Poland. The main attraction is a wooden palace with an octagonal shape that functioned as a hunting lodge and later as a venue for cultural events.

The village developed around a wooden palace commissioned by Prince Antoni Radziwiłł and designed by renowned architect Karl Friedrich Schinkel between 1822 and 1824. The structure soon became a cultural center that attracted notable musicians of the era.

The palace served as a gathering place for musicians and artists during the Romantic period. Visitors can still see the rooms where important works were created and performed.

The village is easily accessible and provides visitors with direct access to the palace and surrounding countryside. The best time to visit is during warmer months when the gardens are maintained and outdoor areas are most pleasant to explore.

The palace features an unusual octagonal layout with a central salon extending upward through three floors. This design was specifically created to enable musical performances and to optimize acoustics for concerts and recitals.
