Stara Morawa, Mountain village in Lower Silesian Voivodeship, Poland.
Stara Morawa is a small mountain village in Gmina Stronie Śląskie, within Kłodzko County in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship of southwestern Poland. It sits in a valley surrounded by forests and meadows, typical of the Sudeten foothills in this part of the country.
The village grew around limestone quarrying and lime production, industries that defined local life in the 19th century. After World War II, the German-speaking population was expelled and replaced by Polish settlers, which deeply changed the character of the community.
A restored lime kiln from the 19th century now serves as a small cultural space in the village, with displays about local history. The exhibitions reflect the shared past of the German and Polish communities who lived here at different times.
The village is reachable by road from Stronie Śląskie and works well as a base for walks into the surrounding hills and forests. Mountain weather can change quickly here, so sturdy footwear and a waterproof layer are worth bringing along.
A reservoir completed in the early 2000s reshaped the landscape around the village and introduced water-based activities that were not there before. It is one of the few bodies of water of this kind in the mountainous part of the Kłodzko Valley.
