Kielce is a large city in Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship in central Poland, surrounded by hills and crossed by the Silnica River. The city spreads across an area with historic districts around the center and newer residential zones on the edges, linked by several main roads and a train station with regional connections.
The settlement received city rights in 1360 and grew around a religious core supported by the bishop's seat in Kraków. During the 19th century, the place transformed into a center with mining and metalworking industries, which expanded the urban structure.
