National Defence University of Warsaw, Military academy in Rembertów, Poland.
The National Defence University of Warsaw is a military academy in Rembertów, east of the capital. The campus includes lecture halls, administrative buildings, libraries, and military training areas located on a fenced compound.
The institution emerged in 1990 through restructuring of the former General Staff Academy after the end of the Cold War. Its educational tradition reaches back to the Szkoła Rycerska founded in 1765, considered the first Polish officer school.
The official title carries the name of Polish general Kościuszko, linking military heritage to national identity. Visitors see the campus with drill grounds and teaching buildings where future commanders learn and train.
The campus is subject to military security regulations and does not normally allow civilian access without authorization. Occasional public events such as open days offer insights into the buildings and training facilities.
The institution houses a military history archive with documents on Polish armed forces history. The archive collects materials from war events, tactics, and military decisions across past centuries.
