Museum of the History of Polish Jews, Jewish history museum in Muranów district, Warsaw, Poland
The Museum of the History of Polish Jews is a building in the Muranów district of Warsaw that offers a chronological journey through Jewish life on Polish soil across several floors. Exhibition rooms combine original objects with digital projections and reconstructed spaces representing different eras.
The building opened in 2013 and commemorates the 70th anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising during German occupation. The site stands on the grounds of the former ghetto where thousands of people were confined during the Second World War.
Visiitor s follow a path that begins with medieval times and moves forward through different chapters of Jewish presence in the territory. Display cases hold prayer books, everyday tools, and photographs that show how communities lived and worked over the centuries.
Access is step-free and elevators connect all floors. Visiting time depends on personal interest, with many people spending several hours inside.
A replica of a wooden synagogue ceiling from the 17th century stands in one of the rooms and shows traditional craftsmanship from the Gwoździec synagogue. The painted wooden panels were reconstructed from historical records and offer insight into building techniques of that time.
