Cathedral Basilica of St. James the Apostle

The red brick cathedral rises 110 meters into the sky with its pointed tower, reflecting the traditional North European Gothic architectural style.

Founded in 1187 by Jakob Beringer from Bamberg, the cathedral changed from Catholic to Protestant in 1534 and returned to Catholic after World War II.

The cathedral houses 19 chapels, including the Chapel of Our Lady of Częstochowa and a collection of brass reliefs from the 14th century.

Visitors can access the observation deck on the tower throughout the year to view the entire city of Szczecin from above.

The main section of the cathedral organ, weighing 30 tons, hangs above the nave without support, balanced by a counterweight in the choir.
