Gmina Chełm Śląski, Administrative district in Bieruń-Lędziny County, Poland.
Gmina Chełm Śląski is a rural municipality in Bieruń-Lędziny County in southern Poland comprising three villages: Chełm Śląski, Chełm Mały, and Kopciowice. The area consists mainly of farmland and rural settlements bordered by neighboring towns.
The administrative unit was called Gmina Chełm until 1954 when it received its current name. Between 1975 and 1998 it belonged to the Katowice Voivodeship administrative structure.
The Holy Trinity church and the manor complex in Kopciowice with its storage house, barn, and cattle shed reflect the area's building traditions. These structures shape the villages and show how people lived and worked in the past.
This is a rural area with limited central facilities, so independent travel is necessary to explore the villages. The best time to visit is during warmer months when country roads are dry and easy to walk.
The Dziećkowice drinking water reservoir sits at the northern edge of the area and was built on the grounds of a former sand mine. This project shows how abandoned mining sites have been transformed for modern water supply needs.
