Osiek, Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship, Municipality in Staszów County, Poland
Osiek is a municipality in Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship that stretches along National Road 79, encompassing both urban and rural areas. The settlement sits at roughly 180 meters elevation and serves as a connection point on the route from Warsaw to Bytom.
King Władysław II Jagiełło granted Osiek Magdeburg rights in 1430, which brought weekly Wednesday markets and a new administrative system to the settlement. The town later experienced major boundary shifts, particularly under Austrian rule after 1795 and then as part of the Duchy of Warsaw.
The St. Stanisław parish church from the late 1600s stands at the heart of the community and remains the main gathering place for religious and local activities.
The Osiek Staszowski railway station connects the area to regional train services on the secondary line between Tarnobrzeg and Włoszczowice. This provides visitors with convenient public transport access to explore the wider region.
The settlement was shaped by complex boundary shifts during the Napoleonic Wars, especially after the Austro-Polish War of 1809. These turbulent times left marks on local geography and administrative divisions that changed repeatedly.
