Bojków

Bojków forms an administrative district with established council structures and local governance system within the larger municipality of Gliwice in southern Poland.

The settlement, originally called Scuenevalde, emerged in 1263 when Franconian settlers arrived under the guidance of Cistercian monks from Rudy monastery.

The district maintained its own distinct Germanic dialect derived from Franconian until 1945, setting it apart from neighboring communities in Upper Silesia.

The district council, serving from 2019 to 2025, manages local affairs and communicates with residents through social media platforms and public registries.

For 700 years until 1945, this settlement retained its original German cultural patterns, including specific wedding ceremonies and embroidery traditions.
