Villa in Stawisko, Literary house museum in Podkowa Leśna, Poland.
Villa in Stawisko is a neoclassical mansion built on elevated ground with facades of fieldstone and a distinctive hip roof. The surrounding property covers approximately 18 hectares of grounds that extend across the terrain.
The estate was constructed between 1927 and 1928 by architect Stanisław Gądzikiewicz as a newly built residence. During World War II, it provided shelter for those fleeing persecution and threat.
This residence functioned as a meeting place for Poland's literary and artistic circles, with guests gathering regularly within its rooms. The gatherings helped establish it as a center where creative minds exchanged ideas and worked on their projects.
Access to the site is on foot via paths that cross the grounds and lead to the main building. The best time to visit is on weekdays or weekends when the property is open and visitors can move through at their own pace.
The name draws from a Ukrainian estate where the owner Jarosław Iwaszkiewicz worked as a tutor in his youth. This memory was preserved through the naming of his new home, carrying a personal connection to his earlier life.
