Chojna

Chojna is a town in West Pomeranian Voivodeship in northwestern Poland, situated near the border with Germany. The administrative center spreads across an area that includes several villages and lies roughly 52 kilometers south of Szczecin.

The town received Magdeburg town rights after 1200, establishing it as an important regional center. A notable legacy from this era is the burial of Duke Bogusław I of Pomerania in the local church following his death in 1187.

The town preserves remnants of its medieval past, including defensive walls and towers that still shape its streetscape today. These structures tell the story of how fortifications once defined daily life and safety for residents.

The town is best explored on foot or by bicycle, as most points of interest lie within walking distance. Its proximity to Germany and regional connections make it easy to visit surrounding areas from here.

Within the town area stands a cemetery with gravestones bearing inscriptions in Hebrew and German, telling the story of a community that lived here for generations. These burial sites date mainly from the 19th century and reflect the diversity of the population at that time.
