Glacial erratic on Wolności square in Racibórz, Glacial erratic formation on Wolności square, Racibórz, Poland.

This granite boulder on Wolności square is a large rock with visible crystalline structures and various minerals embedded throughout its surface. You can walk around it and observe the different textures and patterns that cover the stone from every angle.

This stone was transported from northern Europe by glaciers during the last Ice Age. The glaciers pushed the rock hundreds of kilometers southward until they melted and deposited it in Racibórz.

Local geological societies frequently organize educational tours around the erratic, teaching visitors about the formation processes of the European landscape.

This stone sits on the main square and is easy to reach and view from all sides. You can get close to the surface and touch it to feel the rough texture of the granite.

This particular boulder traveled more than 1000 kilometers from its origin point in the north, making it one of the longest-distance transported erratics in Poland. Its lengthy journey makes it a rare example of how powerful ice-age forces shaped the European landscape.
