Gorlice County, Administrative district in Lesser Poland Voivodeship, Poland
Gorlice County is an administrative district in Lesser Poland Voivodeship with three main towns: Gorlice, Biecz, and Bobowa, spread across rolling terrain. The area is divided into ten municipalities that blend urban centers with rural settlements.
The region received its current administrative shape in 1999 when Poland restructured its local government system. This reorganization created the boundaries and governance structure that define the county today.
The Ropa and Sękówka rivers have shaped the valleys and the way communities developed here over time. Local life revolves around these waterways, which connect the different settlements and give the region its geographic identity.
The area is easy to explore as towns and villages are well connected by local infrastructure. Spending time in smaller settlements like Biecz alongside the administrative center of Gorlice gives a fuller picture of the region.
The territory reaches the Slovak border, positioning it at a cultural and geographic crossroads. The southern sections touch the lower foothills of the Carpathian Mountains, creating varied landscapes within a compact area.
