Muzeum Instrumentów Muzycznych w Poznaniu, Musical instruments museum in Old Market Square, Poznań, Poland.

The Musical Instruments Museum is located in the Old Market Square in Poznań and holds more than 2,000 instruments spread across three floors. The collection spans from late medieval times to contemporary pieces, offering a comprehensive look at how music and its tools have developed over centuries.

The collection began as part of the National Museum in Poznań and grew into Poland's largest assemblage of musical instruments. It traces the development of instruments from different periods and traditions.

The collection represents musical traditions from across the globe, with instruments from regions around the Black Sea, Asia, and the Middle East displayed throughout. Visitors can observe how different cultures developed unique instruments and playing methods.

The museum is easy to reach from the Old Market Square and sits in the heart of the old town. Plan for at least two to three hours to walk through the floors and view the different instruments without rushing.

Each floor of the museum focuses on a specific musical era: the ground level shows instruments from medieval and baroque times. The upper levels then move forward to present instruments from court periods and modern music.
