The tradition of St. Martin's Croissants originated in 1891 when priest John Lewicki encouraged local bakers to distribute pastries to people in need.
The European Union granted Protected Geographical Indicator status to St. Martin's Croissants, ensuring the preservation of their traditional recipe and preparation methods.
Visitors can participate in interactive baking sessions with a maximum capacity of 25 people, making advance reservations essential for the experience.
Each authentic St. Martin's Croissant requires 81 precise folds and contains specific measurements of poppy seeds, nuts, raisins, almonds, sugar, and butter.
