Chabówka, Railway village in Lesser Poland Voivodeship, Poland
Chabówka is a village in southern Poland located at about 500 meters elevation and surrounded by the Gorce Mountains. The settlement grew around a railway junction that today hosts a museum displaying historic locomotives and rail cars from Polish railway history.
The railway line connecting Kraków to Zakopane led to the development of Chabówka as a major transport point in the 20th century. The railway shaped the village's growth and made it an important link in the trade route through the mountain region.
The Church of St. Brother Albert, built in 1994, shows modern religious design and serves as the spiritual center for the community. Locals gather here for worship and important religious occasions.
The village is easy to walk through and there is a clear path to the museum next to the station with good signs for orientation. The best time to visit is from spring through fall when the mountain paths and surroundings are most accessible.
Settlers from here founded a village with a similar name in northern Slovakia called Habovka in the 1800s, maintaining a connection between the two mountain communities. This shared origin remains part of both places' histories today.
