Sławatycze

Sławatycze is a village on the Polish-Belarusian border in Lublin Voivodeship. It sits at about 153 meters elevation and serves as the administrative center for the gmina.

In June 1942, German forces gathered and killed approximately 1,300 Jewish residents in the village. The victims were buried in a mass grave at the local cemetery.

The Orthodox and Catholic churches show the religious diversity that has shaped this eastern border region. You can see how both faiths have left their mark on the local buildings and community life.
