Piaski, Municipality in Lublin Voivodeship, Poland.
Piaski is a municipality in Lublin Voivodeship located in Świdnik County, consisting of residential neighborhoods and commercial areas arranged along the Giełczew river valley. The settlement spans several kilometers and features the standard layout of a rural town in this part of Poland.
The settlement arose in the 15th century from the merger of two neighboring villages, with its earliest written mention recorded in Latin documents from 1470. This combination of communities established the foundation for the municipality as it developed over following centuries.
The town contained three Protestant churches during the 16th century Reformation period, marking a substantial shift in the religious composition of the local population.
The town has sports facilities managed by Piaskovia Piaski club, offering programs in football, volleyball, and table tennis for residents and visitors. Being a compact rural municipality, the area is easy to navigate on foot.
Antoni Patek, who founded the prestigious Swiss watchmaker Patek Philippe, originated from this municipality before establishing his luxury timepiece company abroad. His background in this small Polish town connected local history with a globally recognized name in fine horology.
