Jerzwałd, Medieval village in Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, Poland
Jerzwałd is a village beside Lake Płaskie, surrounded by forests of the Iławskie Lake District. The place provides access to numerous walking trails and waterways through the landscape.
The settlement was founded in 1330 as a Prussian village and developed within the Geria region. It later experienced changes under various historical influences in the area.
The village is connected to writer Zbigniew Nienacki, who spent more than two decades here composing the Pan Samochodzik series. His long residence shaped the place and made it a site of literary history.
The village serves as a central location for managing two landscape parks from this point. Its proximity to lakes and forests makes it a good base for day trips to the surrounding area.
A canal from the 1930s extends roughly one kilometer from the village center and connects Lake Płaskie to two smaller forest lakes. This artificial waterway is a surprising part of local infrastructure.
