Kąty Rybackie

Kąty Rybackie sits along the Vistula Lagoon shoreline, with water on one side and dense forests on the other, creating a natural landscape border. The village is small and quiet, shaped by its position between water and woodland.

The settlement changed hands repeatedly, belonging first to the Kingdom of Poland, then to Prussia, Germany, and the Free City of Danzig, before returning to Poland in 1945. These shifts left deep marks on the region's past.

St. Mark Church stands at the heart of the village and reflects the spiritual roots of the local fishing community. It remains a gathering place for residents and visitors today.

The village lies roughly 40 km east of Gdańsk and is quite remote from major towns, so plan accordingly for travel time. The Vistula Lagoon Museum offers information on maritime heritage and is easily accessible from here.

The area contains a nature reserve that hosts one of the largest colonies of great cormorants in northern Europe. These dark diving birds gather here in great numbers, especially during breeding season, and can be spotted from the village.
