Saint George church in Gliwice

The wooden Saint George church stands on a small hill, featuring a stone chancel, wooden-log nave on brick foundations, and a square tower.

Constructed around 1500, the church experienced multiple reconstructions, including major renovations in 1640 and significant changes to the chancel in 1668.

The north wall of the nave contains Baroque paintings from 1667-1668 that depict scenes of the Passion with preserved artistic details.

The church building ceased its religious functions in 1926 when a new stone church was constructed to serve the local community.

Dendrochronological studies reveal that the church tower dates back to the 1540s, making it the oldest structural element of the building.
