Iwiny, Bolesławiec County, Rural settlement in Lower Silesian Voivodeship, Poland
Iwiny is a small village in Bolesławiec County, Lower Silesian Voivodeship, Poland, belonging to the rural commune of Gmina Warta Bolesławiecka. It consists of scattered houses and farmsteads set among open fields and meadows on flat to gently rolling land.
The village developed as a farming settlement in a territory that changed hands between German and Polish rule over the centuries. After 1945, the region became part of Poland and the population was largely replaced, giving the village much of its current character.
The name Iwiny is of Slavic origin and points to a long history of settlement in this part of Lower Silesia. Walking through the village, one can still see farmsteads arranged in the traditional Polish pattern of house, barn, and yard grouped together.
The village is reached by local roads connecting it to nearby towns, and a personal vehicle is the most practical way to get there. As this is a purely residential rural area, there are no tourism services on site, so it is best to arrive with everything you need.
Despite its small size, the village maintains a nearly equal balance between men and women among its residents, which is relatively uncommon in small rural communities in Poland. This demographic stability suggests that the village still offers conditions that keep families rooted there over time.
