Kobiór

Kobiór is a village in southern Silesia surrounded by forests and agricultural land at 250 meters elevation. The settlement spreads across the Raciborz-Oswiecim Basin region with mixed terrain of fields and woodland.

The village was first recorded in 1467 and underwent major changes during the mid-1800s. Construction of roads and railway lines between 1862 and 1863 connected the settlement to wider networks.

The Assumption of Mary Church displays a replica of the Lourdes grotto that draws visitors to its sacred space. The Smolarnia regional museum shows local traditions and how residents connect with their past.

The area offers four marked bicycle trails of varying difficulty levels for visitors to explore. The Princely Route connects this location with nearby towns and provides a longer cycling journey for those interested.

The name likely comes from local dialect words referring either to a specific plant or to marshy terrain. This linguistic origin reveals how the village name connects to its surrounding natural landscape.
