5 Figur

5 Figur is an art installation made of five metal human figures arranged in sequential positions in Poznań. The figures create an optical effect of movement as they progress through public space.

The work was created in 2005 during a period of transformation in Polish public spaces following the end of Soviet influence. It marks a time when artists began documenting urban change through contemporary art.

The five figures mirror the daily movement patterns of people walking through city streets. They capture a frozen moment of urban life expressed in metal form.

The installation stands near the intersection of Półwiejska and Krysiewicza streets and is easily visible from the street level. The location sits among modern commercial buildings, making it straightforward to reach by public transport or on foot.

The five figures decrease progressively in size from left to right, creating an illusion of depth and distance for viewers walking past. This optical trick invites visitors to circle the work and view it from different angles and positions.
