Cieszyn Nike

Nike in Cieszyn is a bronze and granite monument featuring a female figure standing on a tall pedestal. The base displays sixteen cartouches inscribed with names of places where the Silesian Legion fought.

Built between 1934 and 1939, the monument was destroyed by Nazi forces in 1939. It was reconstructed in 2005 using historical records and documentation from before its destruction.

The monument honors the Silesian Legion through inscribed battle locations that mark where soldiers fought during regional conflicts. Visitors can read these place names and understand the unit's importance in local history.

The monument is located at Zamkowa 1 in central Cieszyn and is easily accessible to visitors. You can view the inscriptions and figure from multiple angles without any restrictions.

Local scouts preserved metal fragments from the destroyed monument in private homes during the Nazi occupation. These salvaged pieces later helped guide the accurate reconstruction of the structure.
