Szklarka Waterfall, Natural waterfall in Karkonosze Mountains, Poland.
Szklarka Waterfall drops about 13 meters over granite rocks in a spiral pattern within the Szklarka Gorge at roughly 520 meters elevation. The water flows through a narrow rocky landscape surrounded by dense forests of the Karkonosze Mountains.
The site was reshaped during the Middle Ages, gaining its distinctive form within the gorge. In 1868, a lodge was built nearby that is now known as Kochanówka.
The waterfall's name comes from a local legend about Szklarka, the daughter of a glazier, whose story connects to the mountains and the region's past. Visitors walking through the gorge can sense this tale woven into the landscape.
Three marked trails lead to the waterfall, with parking available near Route 3 between Piechowice and Szklarska Poręba. The best time to visit is on dry days when the path is less slippery.
During winter months, the flowing water freezes into icy cascades that shift and change depending on temperature and weather conditions. These frozen formations give the place a completely different character than in warmer seasons.
