Słupsk Castle, Renaissance castle in Słupsk, Poland.
Słupsk Castle is a brick fortified residence in the center of Słupsk, Poland, built around a rectangular layout with a polygonal tower crowned by a multi-angled dome and a lantern. The complex also includes a historic mill, a gate structure, and the remains of older defensive walls.
Duke Bogislaw X had the original Gothic fortification built in 1507, and it was later transformed into a Renaissance residence between 1580 and 1587. This shift marked a change from a defensive structure to a ducal home fit for courtly life.
The castle now houses the Pomeranian Ducal Museum, where visitors can see crafts, costumes, and everyday objects from the region. One of the rooms holds a notable collection of clocks and goldsmith work that draws particular attention.
The castle sits in the city center and is easy to reach on foot from most parts of town. Allow a few hours inside, as the museum rooms are spread across several floors.
The mill attached to the castle is still in working order and is considered one of the oldest continuously operating industrial buildings in Poland. Visitors can view its structure from outside and get a direct sense of how medieval milling worked.
